Read Time=2 Minutes
Today you will see a blog post from every blogger in the world talking about New Year Resolutions. I am jumping on the bandwagon with one of my own.
These goals are partially personal but mostly about Angle of Attack and what we’re shooting to achieve this next year. Hopefully this year I can lose a little of this weight I’ve put on! But, that’s getting a bit too personal, isn’t it?
Become a Better Blogger
I am always striving to put out better content more often on this blog. Yes, I know the blog is still young and building a coveted following. But the truth is that a blog is only as great as the people that follow and comment on it.
Our blog is doing really well so far, and we are seeing a lot of interaction. But, we’d like to go further.
I work my butt off to inspire people with our message here at AOA. I work my butt off so that inspiration turns into action; believers spreading the word.
That starts with better content.
Offer Great Free Content
One thing AOA hasn’t done a whole lot is offering great free content to the vast interwebs. Yeah, we have a forum. Yes, the blog has some pretty-dang-good content! But we plan on going even further.
Nothing else to say here except there is a big announcement coming. It falls under this particular resolution.
Earn the Loyalty and Trust of Many
I read a book recently about brands. I’ve been investigating different methods of business because I feel as though there are tons of companies out there that are disconnected once they release a product, and I don’t want to be one of them. This goes for everything from flight simulation to tooth paste.
I am passionate about what I do, and want that energy to becoming something meaningful. Otherwise, we’re just another company yackin’ in your ear with all my latest marketing.
It’s really easy to start and run a company, but becoming a recognizable and meaningful brand is a whole different story.
In this particular book I read, it said that “A brand isn’t what you say it is, it’s what THEY say it is”. In other words, we (AOA) have no real control over who becomes a loyal follower and who will trust our brand.
It’s what YOU say it is.
We are opening up our doors, putting out frequent and relevant content, taking feedback, improving, being human, and having fun along the way.
You then say what we are… not us.
Deliver Training Online
One thing I worked very hard to implement in 2009 was online video training. We didn’t quite get there, but we’re close.
Basically, we are switching to an online training center as our primary means of delivering products. This means no more shipping, no more waiting. You get your training today, streaming way faster than YouTube, and in HD, and maybe even with subtitles.
How does that sound?
Build a Lean-Mean Product Machine
One of the major issues I feel we have here at Angle of Attack is the amount of time it takes to release a training series. I’d like us to be at the point where we can pump out 3-4 of these a year, not .75 (thinking roughly) like where we are now.
This means that we’ve got to continue to recruit quality people. We’re already at the stage where we are doing this, but we’ve got to go further. We have a pretty dang cool culture within AOA. It shines what we do.
If you’re interested, go fill out this form and I will contact you personally if your talents fit.
Remember, we want quality people. You’d be surprised about all the things we could use assistance with!
New Mark
Angle of Attack has never really had an identifiable mark that when people see it they say, ‘that’s Angle of Attack!’.
Right now we are working on just that. This will be the first thing done this year. Expect to see our new mark in a few days.
In Closing
2009 has been an awesome year. Typical for me to say, I know, but I have learned so much about where I’d like my professional work to take me. I’ve learned that I want to build meaningful brands. I learned Angle of Attack’s Mission: Spreading a Wealth of Knowledge Through Flight Simulation.
Here’s to a great 2010 for Angle of Attack!
Happy New Year!
THROTTLE ON!
