FSX Keyboard Shortcuts Unite!
For a while I’ve been looking for a comprehensive layout of all the keyboard commands available for FSX. Well, I went out searching and found this great little PDF the other day. Great job to the guys who did this! (their info at the bottom of this doc)

Preflight My Airport, and Find Nasty WX
This nifty little web page has an awesome amount of intuitive and easy to interpret information. Not only does it bring up satellite imagery when you type in the airport identifier, but it also gives you the weather for that airport, the charts, and other useful information.
Oh yeah, if you’re looking for nasty IFR weather, or even MIFR weather (barely even legal IFR, if legal at all) this has a sort function right above the map that will show you all the places in the world with those current conditions. Just click the airport you want, and the information will populate!

Beginner FSX Tips
I know a lot of you guys haveĀ your sims tweaked to the gills, as do I. But you really have to run through this document and try out the stuff this guy suggests.
*Disclaimer*: One of the biggest frame rate boosters in this doc is the Direct X 10 Preview. Well, with FSX and Windows 7, it is hard coded to only allow 2x anti aliasing in sim, which is horrible. Therefore, I had to leave this disabled. (really sad, because the mid 2x water in DX10 preview looked as good as the max 2x water in non DX10 without the framerate hit)

Podcast Worth Your While
After a while, I grew tired of affiliated news sources in the FlightSim community. FSBreak is a great news source that offers some awesome advice, reviews, and news about all things flight sim, as they put it. It’s a weekly audio podcast available through itunes, but can also be played directly on their site. Really, these guys are awesome. It’s worth a listen.

Penmanship from a Scenery Developer
Bill Womack, scenery developer for sceneries like Plum Island, Tongass Fjords, Dillingham X, and much more does a weekly blog called ‘Fanboy Fridays’, which, just happens to land on Friday. It’s a great perspective from this respected developer. What’s more, is he writes really well and his stuff is very enjoyable to read, just like his sceneries are enjoyable to fly in.
